Course in Volunteer Literacy Tutoring at Secondary School Level

The primary purpose of this course is to provide volunteer tutors with tutoring skills and knowledge necessary to assist secondary school students (and others, including migrants and those serving prison sentences or on parole), who need to develop literacy at a secondary school level As volunteer tutors work with students and others to develop their literacy skills, the tutors themselves will also develop aspects of their own literacy skills An increased awareness and understanding of the role of literacy and the complexities of English. They will also acquire skills in evidence-based reading approaches and in composing texts.
