About this qualification
This course is intended to provide students with the skills and knowledge to plan and facilitate Family Group Conferencing (FGC) sessions. On completion of this course, the student will be able to complete the following roles as a FGC facilitator:
* review potentially complex family case information
* work collaboratively with families and other professionals in preparation for FGC, using strengths-based approaches
* delivering a culturally safe FGC led by the unique culture of families
* plan the logistics for FGC sessions
* parties at FGC sessions and engage parties in open communication and power sharing
* facilitate and support family decision making and planning
* review the outcomes of FGC sessions.
The course is designed for experienced case workers, community workers, counsellors in welfare, health, community services, education and disabilities sectors, legal practitioners and professionals with experience in mediation and dispute resolution.
