Certificate III in Access Technology
11003NAT
About this qualification
The course provides a pathway for people with vision impairment who use assistive technology skills to complete workspace activities. It develops knowledge and skills in using a mobile phone as an assistive tool in the workspace and in using audio-visual description to access audio-visual information. It develops knowledge and skills in touch typing and in creating PowerPoint presentations to support workspace activities. In addition, it develops the learner’s ability to access unfamiliar environments and to ensure self-care in the workspace.
Whilst there are other VET courses that prepare people for employment, this course incorporates the blind specific expanded core curriculum skills, to provide people who are blind, or vision impaired, with the knowledge and skills to help them learn what their sighted peers gain incidentally. This need is reflected in the current low employment rate for people who are blind or have low vision.
