This program provides participants with the specialised knowledge and skills to be able to lead marine conservation, habitat restoration and management projects and support a national long-term employment in blue carbon projects. of
The accreditation is designed to meet the needs of local marine and coastal resource management, conservation and habitat restoration industries and opportunities. Flexible packaging rules allow the selection of elective units based on specific environments and skills, required for employment in the conservation, habitat restoration and marine resource management industries.
Graduates will have the skills required to work at a managerial/supervisory level in diverse settings, including government agencies, non-profit organizations, research institutions, environmental consultancies, Indigenous land and sea management bodies Private sector companies involved in marine and coastal projects. The necessary entrepreneurial skills will be developed to support the development of conservation and resource management companies within the marine conservation and management sector. This course emphasises the integration of traditional communities and knowledge into the marine conservation, habitat restoration and marine resource management across the sector.

To achieve this qualification competency must be demonstrated in twenty-two (22) units of competency, consisting of six (6) core units and sixteen (16) elective units. Elective units must be relevant to the work environment and the qualification. Specialised Skills Programs include Coral regeneration project coordinator or manager; Seaweeds and Kelp Forest conservation and management; Mangroves; Seagrass; Coastal dunes; Shellfish; Blue Carbon; Marine animal rehabilitation; Breeding and propagation of marine flora and fauna (e.g. mangrove, coral and shellfish); Marine and coastal project management; Sustainable Sea Country Operations and Aquaculture; and Community Engagement.
