Certificate IV in Veteran Support Services

The course has been developed to provide Certificate IV qualifications with specialisations. Each specialisation provides participants with emerging skills and knowledge to work in specialised roles within the veteran support sector. - The Volunteer specialisation provides the skills and knowledge required for volunteers working with a veteran support service. - The Wellbeing Support specialisation provides the skills and knowledge required for volunteers or paid staff who are required to manage volunteers, work directly with veteran clients and deliver wellbeing support programs solely or in partnership with a community of practice.

- The Wellbeing Advocacy specialisation provides the skills and knowledge required for veteran support workers already in the sector or workers transferring in from related sectors to provide wellbeing advice and support and advocacy with government or other community service providers, for veterans and their families and complement the work of military compensation advocates where necessary. - The Ex Service Organisation Support specialisation provides the skills and knowledge required for volunteer or paid workers who undertake a substantially administration role within a veteran support sector organisation or ex-service organisation. - The Project Support specialisation provides the skills and knowledge required for volunteer or paid workers to undertake project development and delivery within a veterans support sector.

Increasingly funding in the veterans support sector either from government or philanthropic sources is project based.

In January 2025, the National VET Regulator amended the course title to remove the term, “(insert stream)” to align to national data reporting requirements. The course structure was not amended. The streams of specialisation remain unchanged in the course structure. The completed stream is to be identified on testamurs below the qualification code and title as per the requirements of the AQF.
