    Here is what the Certificate III in Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Education qualification offered by TAFE Queensland covers and who it is designed for.

    The course provides learners with the specialist skills and knowledge required to perform the following duties and functions whilst working in support of Foundation to Year 6 schools that are either located within Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander communities or schools with a population of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander students. Skills and knowledge covered includes:

    * assisting teachers in the classroom, in the playground and on excursions;

    * preparing education facilities for culturally focused learning activities in accordance with the cross-cultural priorities of the Australian Foundation to Year 6 Curriculum;

    * demonstrating, supervising and participating in activities aligned to the enhancement of the physical, social, emotional and intellectual development of Aboriginal, Torres Strait Islander children;

    * assisting children with intellectual, physical and behavioural difficulties with their academic studies;

    * preparing learning aids, operating audio-visual equipment, issuing learning materials and related administrative duties.
