About this qualification

The Diploma of Yoga Teaching is a 2-year journey that provides life education and teaching skills with specific focused modules to enhance yoga education and improve participant/client/patient/student care, together with self-healing to change their own lives and the lives of others. Learners learn how to convert their yoga calling into a vocation and teach what they love.

This course is intended to provide participants with a range of knowledge and skills to perform the following functions associated with being a Teacher of Yoga

• Understand the classical yoga approaches to health and wellness • Be able to teach Yoga classes • Develop and conduct classes to a variety of small and large groups, blending the ancient principles of classical yoga with the modern precision of safety and strength • Cultivate the skill and sensitivity required to fulfil the varying needs of students • Understand, employ and practice the art and science of yoga and its related disciplines • Cultivate the communication, facilitation, learning and teaching skills to effectively share the yoga world view • Execute principles of alignment and adjustment of yoga postures • Develop core teaching skills Observation, demonstrations, use of language + voice tone

Sequencing • Apply workplace health and safety skills and knowledge relevant to the teaching of yoga • Practise yoga ethics, leadership and the professional yoga teacher methodology • Learning to be a yoga teacher at this level includes the triad of teaching methodology, yoga practice Its philosophy. More than just knowing how to ‘perform’ an asana, the art of alignment, sequencing Curating the practice to place an asana in relation to other poses to produce the desired result is necessary.
