Diploma of Professional Pilates Instruction

The course is designed to reflect the role of Pilates instructors who operate in a professional and specialised studio environment instructing the Pilates Method studio apparatus, small apparatus and matwork repertoire. It focuses on developing skills and knowledge to provide Pilates specific applications for client needs, as well as managing adaptations that may present in given situations. Leadership and guidance are involved when organising activities of self and others as well as contribution to technical solutions The ability to work autonomously within the defined range Under limited supervision.

Graduates will be competent in: • The history, concepts and principles of the Pilates Method • A systematic approach to Pilates studio and matwork programming • Postural analysis and appraisal • Client management, assessment and instructing techniques • Work Health and Safety Legal requirements within the Pilates industry • Pilates exercise planning and programming for apparently healthy to low risk special conditions • Pilates repertoire for Mat, Reformer, Cadillac, Wunda Chair, Barrels and Small Apparatus from introductory to intermediate levels
