The Diploma of Renewable, Sustainable and Circular Manufacturing Management equips learners with the skills and knowledge required to support Australia’s transition to a clean energy economy and circular manufacturing systems.
Graduates will be prepared to implement sustainable industrial practices, integrate renewable energy technologies, manage complex projects, and lead innovation across manufacturing and supply chain operations. Designed to meet the evolving needs of the manufacturing and energy sectors, the course offers a multidisciplinary blend of technical, project management, and leadership capabilities. Learners complete a series of core units focused on sustainability and renewable manufacturing and select two group streams aligned with their career goals.
Sustainable manufacturing Through core units, learners develop the capability to: • Analyse sustainability within manufacturing environments. • Apply circular economy and design thinking principles to improve resource efficiency and reduce waste. • Implement and monitor environmentally sustainable work practices aligned to regulatory and industry standards. • Apply enabling technologies—such as Internet of Things (IoT), automation, or advanced materials—to support sustainability outcomes. • Evaluate and present business cases to support sustainability improvements in operational contexts.
Renewable manufacturing Learners gain strategic and applied skills to: • Analyse the role and integration of renewable energy in manufacturing. • Evaluate and apply renewable energy solutions such as solar, wind, and hydrogen across industrial systems. • Manage renewable energy projects, including planning, delivery, and impact assessment. • Assess energy data and system performance to support renewable energy decision-making. • Apply enabling technologies—including automation and digital systems—to improve sustainability and energy efficiency.
Group A: Project management for renewable energy Learners selecting this stream will develop capabilities in: • Managing project quality, cost, and stakeholder expectations within renewable manufacturing contexts. • Overseeing sustainability-focused projects using structured methodologies and governance frameworks. • Engaging stakeholders to ensure project alignment with organisational and sustainability objectives.
Group B: Sustainable management and leadership This stream prepares learners to: • Lead circular economy initiatives across supply chains. • Manage project stakeholder engagement and build strategic partnerships. • Demonstrate practical leadership capabilities to guide sustainable organisational practices.
Group C: Strategic thinking and communication Learners in this stream will be empowered to: • Apply critical thinking and concept development for sustainability-driven innovation. • Originate and develop new product, service, or business concepts aligned to circular and renewable practices. • Communicate with influence to secure stakeholder support and drive adoption of new ideas in manufacturing and energy sectors.
