The Course in Workplace Impairment Prevention describes the skills and knowledge required to recognise the workplace health and safety (WHS) risks and hazards of working while impaired at work and recognising when you, or a colleague may be experiencing an impairment. Work health and safety (WHS) is a relationship between the health of the worker and the safety issues of their working environment. Work health and safety (WHS) acknowledges the dual effect of the person(s) conducting a business or undertaking (PCBU) to provide a safe working environment and of the worker to fulfil their duties in a safe manner with neither party having a direct or indirect adverse effect on the health of themselves or others when at work.
By undertaking this unit of competency, you will be able to make a more informed judgement and implement safe systems of work for the protection of yourself and colleagues as you will have a better understanding of identifying risk factors and someone that could be suffering under the influence of one or more of these factors. This course applies to all workers who require knowledge of workplace impairment, the impacts on health and safety as a consequence of workplace impairment hazards Risk due to impairment in the workplace.
