About this qualification
This course provides learners with the knowledge and skills to work as Weight Management Practitioners. The course is designed to prepare graduates to support clients in achieving healthy weight management outcomes using a multi-component approach. Areas of focus include nutrition education, physical activity guidance, behaviour change strategies, and lifestyle modification, delivered within the scope of practice for Weight Management Practitioners. Graduates are equipped to provide evidence-based education, develop practical weight management plans, and make appropriate referrals to allied health professionals when required.
Graduates will be able to: • Assess and educate clients on factors influencing weight management, including physical activity, nutrition, and lifestyle behaviours. • Apply psychological principles to support mindset shifts and behaviour change for improved weight outcomes. • Design, plan, and deliver personalised weight management programs, including meal planning and exercise recommendations aligned with client goals. • Provide individual and group support, mentoring, and motivation to help clients achieve and maintain weight management outcomes. • Identify clients requiring additional support and refer to appropriate health professionals within scope of practice. • work within legal and ethical considerations including: o privacy and confidentiality legislation o duty of care o documentation and record keeping requirements.
