Certificate IV in End of Life Doula Services

This course is designed to provide graduates with the skills and knowledge to work as end of life doulas both independently or as part of multi-disciplinary teams to support people (the dying, their families, carers and those close to them) in a range of locations including private homes, hospitals and other care facilities.

Graduates will be able to: • work with and support those living with life limiting conditions, terminal illness, advanced ageing or who are at the end of life Those who are close to them • understand the principles of spiritual or secular care for the person and those close to them • provide and/or support the provision of holistic after death care • provide and/or support vigil, ritual or ceremony after the person dies • provide and/or support early bereavement care • bridge non-medical services gaps in the conventional health system including in palliative and aged care • work within a multi-disciplinary approach to end of life and wellbeing

While the occupation outcomes of this course closely align to the occupation description for ANZSCO code 411713 Family support worker, on the Australian Bureau of Statistics (ABS) website, the AQF level of the qualification does not align to the Skill Level 2 assigned to this occupation by the ABS.
