Certificate IV in Sinology Studies

This course is designed to provide graduates with the skills and knowledge to deepen participants’ understanding of classical Chinese thought and its application in personal cultivation and daily life. The course focuses on the study of key Confucian philosophical works and the practical integration of traditional wisdom through reflective learning, music, and meditative practices.

Graduates will be able to: • Apply traditional Chinese principles of wisdom and morality to personal development and everyday conduct, fostering self-reflection and ethical awareness • Develop an understanding of central Confucian philosophical teachings through the study of the Four Books—the Analects of Confucius, Doctrine of the Mean, Mencius The Great Learning—and interpret their relevance to contemporary life • Develop and apply foundational skills in traditional Chinese music and meditation as practices that support mental discipline, emotional balance Cultural appreciation

Graduates will be able to interpret core Confucian texts and apply traditional Chinese cultural practices in personal and community contexts, demonstrating AQF Level 4 competencies. The course also provides a pathway to further study in Sinology and related fields.
