The 11448NAT Course in Providing First Aid to a Compressed Gas Diving Casualty equips divers, dive supervisors First aiders with the practical capability to manage serious dive-related emergencies including Decompression Illness (DCI), recognising Decompression Sickness (DCS) and Arterial Gas Embolism (AGE) as separate pathophysiological processes, barotrauma, saltwater aspiration syndrome (SWAS), immersion pulmonary oedema (IPO), gas toxicity, hypothermia, hyperthermia, near-drowning Dangerous marine animals. Graduates will be able to: • Recognise dive-related medical conditions. • Use safe cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) and advanced resuscitation techniques in aquatic and dive-site settings. • Set up and operate oxygen delivery systems. • Coordinate multi-rescuer response, communication, and casualty evacuation. • Report, debrief, and post-incident readiness restoration.

Graduates will be competent to act as the designated dive emergency responder at recreational or occupational dive sites and will be capable of maintaining oxygen therapy and communication with hyperbaric medical personnel until professional medical care is available.
