About this qualification

AMPA's Associate Degree of Dance is an advanced diploma level (AQF level 6) qualification. It covers the same content as stages 1-3 of AMPA's Bachelor of Dance with the addition of a foundational stage at the start of the course, stage A. It is an intensive and practical training course designed to develop highly skilled, disciplined and versatile dance artists. AMPA boasts a supportive and collaborative atmosphere that inspires creativity and encourages students as they strive to reach technical, artistic and scholarly excellence.

As the only performance-focused dance degree in NSW, this practical course nurtures talent in an atmosphere that encourages creativity and applauds innovation. The Associate Degree of Dance at AMPA provides students with the technical ability, creativity and professionalism required to sustain a successful career in the extremely competitive dance industry in Australia and abroad. Students receive an extensive curriculum in composition, as well as undertake complementary studies (dance history and appreciation, body science, music for dancers, dance production, dance and film) and electives (pedagogy, virtual dance and Latin American and ballroom styles).

The Associate Degree of Dance is a nested award into the Bachelor of Dance. Students who successfully complete the first four trimesters of the Associate Degree of Dance are eligible to transfer into the Bachelor of Dance and graduate with both awards.
