About this qualification

This unique joint degree provides a comprehensive understanding of human biology, health and disease, and prepares you for a career in laboratory medicine. You will develop practical skills in biomedical science and train across key areas of pathology to support diagnosis, treatment and clinical decision-making in healthcare settings. In the first two years, you will study foundational subjects including anatomy, physiology, biochemistry and microbiology. You can then specialise through majors in Physiology and Pharmacology, Microbiology and Immunology, or Molecular and Cell Biology. The course has a strong practical focus, with extensive laboratory training and 16 weeks of professional placement in medical laboratories across North Queensland and Australia.
