About this qualification

The Bachelor of Clinical Science is your fast track into the Master of Speech and Language Pathology. By taking advantage of an intensive summer session, you'll complete your undergraduate degree in just two years. Then, if you meet the entry requirements, you'll receive direct entry into the Master of Speech and Language Pathology Will qualify you to work as a practicing speech pathologist.

The Master of Speech and Language Pathology will prepare you for a rewarding career in a professional or clinical role in private practice, hospitals, disability support or government. While developing expertise in communication and swallowing disorders, you'll also have the opportunity to undertake advanced studies on topics such as cleft lip and palate, head and neck cancer, transgender voice and trauma-informed practice. And you'll have the choice of studying full- or part-time within Macquarie University Health, our unique ecosystem of hospital and health clinics renowned for providing a cutting-edge environment for learning and practice.

To progress from the Bachelor of Clinical Science to the Master of Speech and Language Pathology, you will need to meet all of the following conditions (1) successfully complete your Bachelor degree (2) achieve a Weighted average mark of 65 (3) ensure you complete units of study in at least five of the following topical areas: Phonetics, Phonology, Grammar/Syntax, Psycholinguistics, Semantics, Morphology, Language Development, Psychology (4) at time of processing for progression to the Master degree you must provide a satisfactory personal statement detailing your understanding of speech pathology as it is practised in Australia, your reasons for desiring to work as a speech pathologist Any other factors relevant to your application.
