About this qualification
Electrical engineers: Design and develop intelligent hardware and software systems and devices, which contribute to our quality of life. They are engaged in communications, smart energy, embedded systems, robotics, speech, video and image processing, power systems, and integrated electronics.
This degree focuses on design, development, manufacturing and management of complex hardware and software systems, and reliable cost-effective devices. This involves the use of new information and computer-intensive technologies. Key courses include telecommunications, photonics, systems and control, energy systems, microelectronics and signal processing. To get you work ready, you'll apply these skills through 60 days of approved industry training.
Telecommunications engineering: Telecommunications explores how information is transferred from one point to another. It is concerned with the design, development, testing and maintenance of all aspects of voice and data communications systems From satellite and optical fibre networks to data encoding, compression and encryption.
In this degree you’ll learn about the theory and application of a broad range of telecommunications systems such as telephone and data networks, radio and TV, satellites and deep space applications. You’ll learn how to design, develop and maintain the transmission of information using different methods across the world.
Quantum engineering: UNSW Sydney has introduced the world’s first undergraduate degree in quantum engineering which will train students in advanced electronics and telecommunication engineering, including specialising in how to design and control complex quantum systems. The degree will cover nanoelectronics, microwave engineering and quantum technologies for advanced sensors, secure communications and computing.
