Bachelor of Nursing (Whyalla - online)

You can choose to study the Bachelor of Nursing at one of three of our campuses: Adelaide City, Mount Gambier or Whyalla. The Bachelor of Nursing has two hybrid delivery options (on-campus or online).

This option (ABP282) allows you to study a range of your courses online. However, you are required to participate in mandatory on-campus practical components such as workshops at our Whyalla campus Professional experience placements (PEP) across a range of health settings throughout South Australia.

The Bachelor of Nursing is a clinically focused degree, offering valuable industry insights and the best in nursing practice. Learn from experienced academic and clinical staff in our simulated hospital and health service environments where you can consolidate your learning and build confidence in your practice. Complete 880 placement hours, providing you opportunities to learn and experience the diversity of nursing practice and healthcare.

This degree prepares you to meet the Registered Nurse standards for practice (2016) required for a registration as nurse with the Nursing and Midwifery Board of Australia.

You will also have opportunities to further your studies and specialise in an area that meets your career aspirations.

Diploma of Nursing (Enrolled/Division 2 Nursing) graduates, registered with the Nursing and Midwifery Board of Australia (NMBA) without restrictions on their license and with a current practicing certificate are eligible for a year of credit (maximum 48 units) into the Bachelor of Nursing program. You will not be required to apply for credit as this will be applied automatically by the University. If you have completed a Diploma of Nursing and you have yet to apply for AHPRA registration or have yet to have it confirmed, you will need to formally apply for credit at the time of enrolment.

What you'll learn

In this degree you will explore contemporary nursing knowledge, research and practice and experience the diversity of clinical nursing practice. Coursework is designed to prepare you for your nursing career so you can be confident in meeting healthcare delivery needs.

Placements will begin from your first year of study to build your fundamental knowledge and professional skills. This will continue into your second and third year of study with 880 clinical placement hours across your degree. All clinical placements are conducted in healthcare settings, including metropolitan, regional, and rural hospitals and health services across South Australia.

First-year studies will also include courses on Human Biology 1 and Human Biology 2, Social and Political Determinants of Health and Aboriginal Health. These are designed to broaden your foundational knowledge across disciplines and topics.
