About this qualification

Here is what the Bachelor of Nutrition and Dietetics (Honours) qualification offered by Flinders University covers and who it is designed for.

Dietitians apply the science of food and nutrition to promote health, prevent and treat disease to optimise the health of individuals, groups, communities, and populations.

The course is designed to meet the Dietitians Australia National Competency Standards for Dietitians including the key areas of professional practice.

These skills can then be applied to all areas of practice including clinical dietetics in hospitals and private practice, community and public health nutrition, food service systems management, and research.

Our School of Medical, Indigenous and Health Sciences has modern purpose-built teaching and research facilities including access to well-equipped simulation labs, a clinical trials facility in the Illawarra Health and Medical Research Institute (IHMRI), nutrition related laboratories such as those addressing food preparation (diet laboratories), dietary analyses (computer laboratories).

Graduates undertake professional placement in a range of areas including general and specialist hospitals in local, regional and rural areas, as well as in a variety of community and industry settings.
