With three majors to choose from: Sport Coaching and Development, Outdoor Education, and Sports Business The option to minor in these areas or Strength and Conditioning Coaching, you can tailor your studies to suit your interests and career goals. Whether you're passionate about helping people achieve their potential, running sporting events, leading adventures in the outdoors, or improving community health through active lifestyles, this degree sets you on the right path.

Practical experience

Real-world experience is at the heart of this degree. You'll gain hands-on, industry-relevant skills through a variety of placement opportunities across sport coaching, management, school sports, outdoor education and sport business administration.

In your final year, you'll complete a professional placement in an area aligned with your career goals, giving you valuable insight into the industry and building your confidence and connections before you graduate.

Whether it's working with local community sports clubs, outdoor adventure providers, health organisations or national sporting bodies, you'll graduate with practical skills and experiences that set you apart in the job market.

City Campus

Flinders City Campus offers a broad range of study areas and is designed for collaborative learning, interactive teaching and industry engagement. Positioned adjacent to the Adelaide Railway Station on North Terrace and central to trams and buses, the City Campus provides students with greater connection, convenience and accessibility.

Your career

Graduates of the Bachelor of Sport and Active Recreation are equipped for a wide range of exciting careers across sport, health, and recreation. You could work in sport coaching and development, helping individuals and teams improve performance, or lead outdoor education and adventure programs that inspire people through nature-based learning.

There are also opportunities in sport and event management, where you'll deliver programs and events that bring communities together, or in community health, using physical activity to promote healthier lifestyles. You might choose to work in strength and conditioning, supporting athletic performance, or manage recreation services that encourage active living.

This degree also offers a pathway to further study, including the Master of Teaching, if you're interested in becoming a qualified physical education teacher. With a strong foundation in practical skills and industry insight, you'll graduate ready to make a meaningful impact through sport and active recreation.
