Engaging with meaningful problem-solving arising from a student’s discipline and interests, we provide strategies and skills-development to communicate effectively and persuade others. Students learn how to find reliable data, analyse critical issues, ethically apply evidence, persuasively reason, and work collaboratively. In so doing, students are introduced to the skills they need to successfully undertake university learning and become skilled problem solvers of real-world challenges. The learning experiences of this unit also provide a transition into important practices for university life, including writing, thinking, reading, viewing, research, and collaborative work.
