This subject was previously known as Understanding Prevention. This subject explores different perspectives on crime prevention, assisting students to develop an understanding of situational, developmental, community, and criminal justice approaches to the prevention of crime and anti-social behaviour, and an understanding about their effectiveness. The subject will encourage students to think critically about the consequences of each approach for diverse groups and communities and for their own practice. In particular, students will develop skills in applying one of these approaches to particular problems.
