You will use the key concepts of sovereignty, truth telling, resurgence, and relationality to identify and understand Indigenous ways of knowing, being and doing. You will engage analytically with a wide range of scholarly and creative works by Palawa/Aboriginal people of Lutruwita/Tasmania including: virtual tours (and one, optional physical tour) of Country; academic and activist writing; storytelling and poetry; visual art; film, music and photography. The subject will advance your ability to reflect upon your own identity and Lifeworld (Indigenous or non-Indigenous) and your relational connection to Indigenous communities and Lifeworlds. Your learning from this subject will allow you to meaningfully engage at the ‘cultural interface’ between Indigenous and non-Indigenous Lifeworlds and will provide you with knowledge and critical skills that you can apply to a wide range of academic course work, professional practices, and social environments.
