By using texts as exemplars of contemporary Hindi language and perspectives on South Asian society, the subject will enable you to access a wide range of modern Hindi usages. You will read modern texts on topics such as the partition of India and Pakistan, traditional urban and rural lifestyles, and contemporary issues related to the caste system. You will also explore issues related to vocabulary, usage and idiom. In addition the subject will focus on the development of active language skills in both oral and written forms. It is recommended that student take AST2MMA with this subject. This is a level 2 and includes live sessions with the expectation of student attendance and participation.
