It begins with anatomical terminology and the relationships between body cells, tissues and organs. Key cell processes such as respiration, protein synthesis, and cell division will be covered. Students will then explore the basic function and control of the circulatory, respiratory, digestive and excretory systems, and how these systems contribute to the changing needs of the human body. The subject includes exploration of the lymphatic and immune systems and how they provide defence against microorganisms. Students will investigate the maintenance of homeostasis and the governance of body systems by the nervous and endocrine systems.
