About this subject
This subject introduces students to the discipline of International Political Economy (IPE). IPE examines the politics of the global economy, from the high politics of trade deals and global finance to the everyday realities of work and housing. It is concerned with the history and theory of capitalism and its consequences for contemporary society such as the climate crisis, erosion of international order, power of transnational corporations, and stark economic and social inequality. Students will study these issues through international case studies, policy problems, and readings, and develop their own perspectives on how the global economy interacts with everyday life. Please Note: All students studying at Murdoch University will need to complete the compulsory unit, Murdoch Academic Passport (MAP100), which only takes 2-3 hours to complete online.
