About this subject
This subject explores the international politics of the Indo-Pacific, focusing particularly on questions of international security and strategy. The aims of this course are as follows: To introduce you to the international politics of security and strategy in the Indo-Pacific through the lens of contested strategic spaces and geographic sub-regions; To integrate an understanding of how the region’s security and strategic arrangements relate to the wider dynamics of international politics; To engage with and utilise International Relations theories and concepts, in the context of Indo-Pacific security; To provide the analytic and intellectual foundation for further academic research on the region and/or work which requires a sound understanding of the security and strategic dynamics of the contemporary Indo-Pacific; To develop further students’ critical and analytical skills through the engagement with a diverse and challenging theoretical and empirical literature, interrogated through the online content material, assessments, and class participation.
