It provides foundational knowledge of the Australian legal system and legal principles for business organisational structures and their underlying regulation. Topics include the Australian legal system and business law, structures and corporate governance, member’s rights and remedies, corporate finance and liability, companies in distress, external administration, financial services law and more. You'll focus on the legal framework for the provision of financial advice and financial products and requirements and obligations of the Australian financial services licensees under Chapter 7 of the Corporations Act 2001 (Cth). You'll grasp the use of statute and case law in analysing commercial relationships, and gain skills in finding relevant law using legal libraries. These skills are vital in many professions, such as executives, auditors, accountants, management consultants, financial planners/advisers, administrators, and teachers.
