Continuing on from the first trimester 100-level Japanese subject, in this subject you will further develop your elementary communicative competence in Japanese. You will learn more basic aural and oral skills in Japanese (including expressing probability, moderating language, potential form of verbs, suffixes like -tai, -sugiru-, -to omou and -deshoo). You will continue to learn basic skills in reading and writing in Japanese (consolidating hiragana, katakana and continuing to add elementary-level kanji). In this subject you will gain an awareness of some aspects of Japanese society and culture relevant to intercultural communication and you will create language learning strategies that you can employ as you progress.
