This subject is primarily taught in the Korean language to maximise students’ opportunities to practise advanced level communication skills. This subject utilises authentic Korean texts ranging from news articles to popular culture texts, and introduces students to basic translation strategies for working with previously unseen texts. Students will achieve mid- to upper advanced level conversation and writing skills through engaging in interactive class discussions and practising in real-life communicative situations such as workplace interactions and job interviews. It will also include the development of research and debating skills in Korean. On successful completion of Korean 5 and 6, students will reach a level of competency equivalent to the National Institute of Korean Language’s Standard Curriculum for Korean Language upper 3/lower Level 4 on the TOPIK (Test of Proficiency in Korean) scale of proficiency.
