About this subject
In this subject you will develop the ability to evaluate and interpret information gathered from measures and approaches used in psychological assessment. The subject will be comprised of three themes covering measurement theory, individual differences, and psychological assessment in applied contexts. Lectures in measurement theory will cover classical and modern psychometric approaches to the construction, implementation, and evaluation of psychological measures. Lectures in individual differences will extend on the coverage of cognitive ability, personality, and emotion offered in introductory psychology subjects, with a focus on assessment. Lectures in applied psychological assessment will cover the issues associated with the appraisal of behaviours, thoughts, interests and emotions across clinical, educational, and forensic contexts. This subject is a capstone subject in a psychology major. This subject consists of self-guided online lessons and timetabled tutorial classes. It is typically taken by students in their third year.
