About this subject
This subject was previously known as Internet Collaboration and Innovation . This subject explores the relationship between society and technology, equipping students with theoretical tools to critically analyse digital innovation and its social impact. Drawing on theories of the social shaping of technology, students will apply these to real-world case studies, exploring how social, political, and economic forces shape technological development and innovation. The unit covers historical and contemporary examples of innovation, disruption, and crises, enabling students to assess the wider implications of emerging technologies. Through the assessments, students learn to present well-researched arguments and communicate their analysis of socio-technological developments to diverse audiences, preparing them to contribute thoughtfully to the future of digital and social media communication.
