From science fiction and dystopian classics, through futurology and trends forecasting, to climate change narratives and extinction studies, students will engage with a variety of texts and discourses engaging in the question of the future. The subject will develop skills in analysing the relationships between language, genre and contexts, and explore how textual choices position audiences for particular purposes, shaping attitudes, values and perspectives on contemporary social, cultural and political trends.
