The unit begins with a review of the diverse nature of contemporary adult learners and their varied learning needs and expectations. It examines theories and practices, curriculum design, assessment, evaluation and feedback in the contemporary context from a design thinking perspective. The application of design thinking to curriculum development affords innovative approaches to the facilitation of learning and assessment practices. In engaging with this approach learners will develop the capacity to design curriculum responsive to educational advancements and evaluation outcomes. Learners should be able to utilise their learning in application to professional accreditation bodies (HEA, HERDSA) at an Associate Fellow level, and to their professional teaching portfolio.
