Accounting / Criminology (Honours) combined degrees

This combined degree enables you to follow your interests and aspirations whilst enhancing your career prospects by concurrently undertaking two different but complementary areas of study. You will complete qualifications in both Accounting and Criminology (Honours) with a combined study plan to reduce the overall duration of the degree. The Bachelor of Accounting has a particular focus on application of accounting knowledge, competencies and capabilities to diverse and global commercial business/organisational contexts. Bachelor of Accounting

The Bachelor of Accounting is a future-focused, industry-informed degree designed to prepare the next generation of accounting professionals for success in a rapidly evolving global business environment. With a strong emphasis on analytical thinking, technological proficiency, and social responsibility, this program equips students with the tools to thrive in the era of Industry 4.0 and beyond. The Bachelor of Accounting is accredited by Certified Practising Accountants Australia (CPA Australia), Chartered Accountants Australia and New Zealand (CAANZ) and holds professional recognition with the Institute of Public Accountants (IPA).

On completion of this Accounting degree students will be able to critically apply broad theoretical and technical accounting, finance, economic and management knowledge and skills to inform financial control and budgeting and analyse accounting practices and decisions using theoretical and technical knowledge of regulatory, governance, compliance and legal requirements. The degree prepares graduates for a career in a range of public and private sectors in Australia and internationally. Potential occupations may include accountant, consultant and analyst; potential employers may include accounting firms, financial management firms and government departments.

Bachelor of Criminology (Honours)

The Bachelor of Criminology (Honours) will prepare undergraduates for successful careers in the criminal justice sector and related fields, through a comprehensive understanding of crime and social harm. Flinders Criminology values and actively fosters critical thinking about, and application of knowledge to solve the pressing criminological problems of our time. In addition, the Honours program will provide students with advanced skills in academic writing, including thesis preparation and standards required for publication and extend students' knowledge and understanding of criminology and the role of research within areas of academic specialisation.

On completion of the Criminology (Honours) degree students will be able to demonstrate a comprehensive understanding of both classic and contemporary criminological theories And an understanding of the ways that criminal justice systems function to deliver justice both in Australia and abroad. Students will have the ability to apply criminological knowledge in educational and professional settings and an appreciation of the ways that ethical behaviour improves justice outcomes. This degree prepares graduates for a career in a range operational service associated with criminal justice systems. Potential occupations may include advocacy officer, youth justice case manager and community corrections officer; potential employers may include private security, intelligence services and court administrations.
