About this qualification

Australia has an international reputation as being a producer of modern, safe, reliable, and sustainable food. In Australia, the food industry represents around 20% of domestic manufacturing sales and service income.

The consumers’ demand to access safe, sustainable but also affordable and durable food is leading advances in the food industry and requires a highly skilled workforce. With a focus on the whole food ecosystem and the circular economy, the UTS Bachelor of Food Science and Technology combines the study of general scientific principles with specialised topics around the science behind food production, nutrition, safety, processing, chemistry and physics as well as product development.

As a graduate, you will emerge with industry aligned skills ready to create, innovate and implement technology led solutions to local or global issues related to food production, distribution and consumption.
