Diploma of Alcohol and Other Drugs/Diploma of Mental Health

This course is suitable for those looking to work in mental health within the specialised field of drug and alcohol services. Students develop the skills required to provide support and interventions to people with alcohol and drug issues and assess and promote social, physical, emotional and mental health and wellbeing. Students will also learn to advocate on behalf of people with complex coexisting mental health, drug, and alcohol issues. TAFE Queensland's highly-experienced team of industry professionals will provide students with the one-on-guidance needed to succeed in the industry.

Combined diploma/degrees: The Diploma of Alcohol and Other Drugs/Diploma of Mental Health can be combined with other programs as listed below to attain the awards of Diploma of Alcohol and Other Drugs/Diploma of Mental Health from TAFE Queensland and the relevant degree from the university. Students undertake initial study at TAFE Queensland and complete the degree at the relevant university. Duration, location, mode of study, semester intake, electives and specialisations may vary. All mandatory university admission and English language requirements must be met before university enrolment is finalised. For more information contact the relevant university. Note: TAFE Queensland students making transition to the degree may need to wait six months to start with the semester one university intake.

To apply for a combined diploma/degree, applicants must select the Diploma of Alcohol and Other Drugs/Diploma of Mental Health for the relevant TAFE Queensland location on their application and nominate their preferred degree/university (one only). Applicants can list the stand alone diplomas or the combined program but not both. Listing more than one is not needed because they have the same eligibility and ATAR/rank requirements.
