Students will be asked to consider urban histories and strategies incorporating multiple cultural perspectives, knowledge, practices, ecology and context to make cities inclusive, safe, resilient and sustainable. They will also be involved in the exploration, development and demonstration of design skills for urban projects, incorporating: the analysis of urban contexts, understanding the role that urban design projects play in shaping the public domain and the practice of making speculative urban propositions. Work Integrated Learning will be incorporated throughout the unit by using a mode of teaching where design activity takes place in workshop situations / on sites/simulation of the real-world project/interaction with community and industry.
